Returning America's Art to America. The Associates of the American Wing and the Friends of the Detroit Film Theater jointly host the world premiere of the new documentary film, Returning America's Art to America. Produced by the United States General Services Administration (GSA), the 24-minute film traces efforts by the GSA and other Federal Agencies to recover lost and stolen works of art produced by artists working for the New Deal art projects of the 1930s and 1940s. One of the most important works of art featured in the film, John Sloan's painting Fourteenth Street at Sixth Avenue (1934), was recently recovered by the GSA, subsequently lent to the DIA and is currently on view in Prentis Court.
