  • WASHINGTON, DC.- The National Gallery of Art has received an extraordinary bequest of 19th- and 20th-century prints, drawings, and illustrated books by artists ranging from Edouard Vuillard to Alex Katz from the late Evelyn Nef, who passed away in December 2009. The gift from the collection she built with her late husband John Nef is composed of 31 drawings, 46 prints, 25 volumes, and a monumental mosaic.

  • MADISON, WI.- A major private collection of 20th-century sculpture will be made accessible to the public in its new home at the Chazen Museum of Art at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The museum announced the gift of the renowned Terese and Alvin S. Lane Collection, comprising more than 70 sculptures and 250 preparatory drawings by artists including Jean Arp, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, Pablo Picasso, and David Smith, among other modern masters.

  • VALENCIA.- This exhibition, organised by the IVAM and the Museo Cantonale d'Arte in Lugano, presents for the first time in Spain a selection of over one hundred masterpieces of postwar Italian art from one of the most important and internationally prestigious art collection of gallery-owner Margherita Stein. The Brooklyn Museum has an app for the iPhone and Droid (Brooklyn Museum Mobile) The American Museum of Natural History recently introduced its own iPhone app,  The Museum of Modern Art’s iPhone app (MoMA)The Metropolitan Museum of Art will introduce its first app in Februarythe Louvre in Paris to the medical Mütter Museum in Philadelphia, also have apps showing off their collections.

  • ROME – Just a click away: Italian masterpieces go online. This week, an Italian company put online high-resolution images of "The Birth of Venus" and five other masterpieces from the Uffizi gallery in Florence, including works by Caravaggio and Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper"; Caravaggio's "Bacchus.
