Originally from Haute-Savoie, Patrick Muneret spent the first eight years of his life exploring the forests and rivers of France. Then in 1948, he moved to Paris and lived with his grandparents. His grandmother was a painter and an art historian, who took the young artist under her wing. He painted his first piece when he was 8 years old; 19 years later, he was painting full-time to earn a living.
As a teenager, Patrick Muneret painted several renditions of his grandparents. They were both artists and encouraged him to continue in this field. He studied fine arts under several European masters like Salvador Dali and earned two bachelor's degrees while remaining at the top of his class. He taught at the Dijon School of Fine Arts and started a renovation and decoration company with his father, but was eventually drafted into the army. Upon his return in the late 1960's he opened a studio/gallery in his home town of Haute-Savoie. He exhibited his work in many other galleries from Canada to Japan; he was also the recipient of over 13 important and prestigious international awards.
In 1985, he met an art teacher from Montreal, who encouraged him to visit Quebec. It was love at first sight. He made his home in the Laurentians, where he lived by a bizarre schedule of painting for eight hours, sleeping for three, painting for eight, etc.. His surrealist paintings are so meticulously crafted that one can imagine the obsessive amounts of time this Dali disciple devoted to his work. Unfortunately, this artist is no longer with us to share his unique visions, but has left us with his pictorial symphonies in his stead.
