Stanley Cosgrove was born in Montreal on December 23, 1911. He entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1929 and was instructed by Joseph Saint-Charles, Edwin Holgate and Charles Maillard. His work began having some success in the thirties, and in 1939 he received a scholarship to go to France. Due to the outbreak of war, he traveled instead to Mexico where he enrolled at the San Carlos Academy; were he became assistant to the famous Jose Clemente Orozco. Cosgrove's paintings are mostly still life and landscapes, plus a few portraits and nudes. GALERIE MICHEL-ANGE ART GALLERY
